My family moved to Salida in 1995 when I was 9 and I graduated from Salida High School in
2004. I spent the next few years working construction, but wanted something more. I decided to
join the Navy in 2010 without seeing the ocean or being on a plane. The first time I saw the
ocean I was flying over the Pacific to meet my ship. The USS Momsen became home for many
years. I deployed to the Middle East in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 in support of the Global War
on Terrorism and counter piracy operations. I deployed in 2013-2014 for a Pacific cruise
conducting joint operability exercises with the Australian Navy and Japanese Navy.
In 2015 my wife and I got the opportunity to be stationed in Naples, Italy. I was selected to be
Leading Petty Officer (LPO) of the Sixth Fleet Watch Floor. My team of Junior Sailors and I were
responsible for maintaining crucial information, critical to both kinetic operations and Nato exercises.
In 2018 we decided it was time to establish our roots. We moved back to Salida, and I now work
for the family business. I decided to further my education and earned my associates in business
from Colorado Mountain College in 2022. I have wanted to be more involved in our community,
and particularly the Chaffee County Veteran community. I would be honored to be apart of the
Roy Williams Foundation in any capacity.
